After a 45-minute ultimatum from the army amid protests, Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina resigned from her post.

The Bangladesh Army issued a 45-minute ultimatum to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, demanding her resignation amid escalating protests.

Shortly after, as by recent reported that Sheikh Hasina had resigned from her post and departed from Dhaka, allegedly en route to India.

According to a report, she and her sister left the Prime Minister's official residence, Ganabhaban, for a safer location, departing Bangabhaban at approximately

Monday via military helicopter. The ultimatum from the army followed a wave of violent protests, sparked by student groups who had previously campaigned against reserved quotas in government jobs.

While the Supreme Court had scrapped most quotas in July, protests reignited with demands for Hasina's resignation and accountability for the violence that left at least 150 people dead and thousands injured.

The 'Students Against Discrimination' group, leading the protests, called for a nationwide non-cooperation movement, rejecting Hasina's offer for talks. The unrest has been further fueled by economic stagnation, high youth unemployment, and inflation, exacerbating public discontent with Hasina's government.
